The film tells the story of Liza Drake (Blunt), a high school dropout who goes from working at a run-down pharmacy in Central Florida to becoming a key player in a pharmaceutical company’s marketing scheme for OxyContin, a powerful opioid pain medication. Along the way, she falls in love with a high-flying lawyer (Evans) and starts a family. However, Liza’s success comes at a price, as she soon finds herself caught up in a web of lies and corruption.
